This wine has fragrant layers of blackcurrant, blackberry, and ripe plum, punctuated by a distinct menthol and eucalyptus aroma typical of Coonawarra Cabernets. This herbal quality gives the wine a cool, almost refreshing edge, balancing the lush fruit aromas. A concentrated yet elegant structure, showcasing flavors of dark berry fruits, cassis, and subtle tobacco.

STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Wynns Coonawarra Estate is the oldest winery in Australia's most celebrated fine wine region- Coonawarra. The Estate was founded by pioneer John Riddoch, who planted vineyards in 1891 and completed the Estate's famous triple gabled winery in 1896. 

A cool growing season with late season rain led to red-fruit and spice notes in the 2017 wines. Small quantities of good quality wines were made from 2017.
